The South West Coast Path itself is 630 miles long, but I often had to walk an extra mile or two off the path to find a campsite. A few of the extras, I confess, were due to some ‘navigationally challenged’ moments, and some to detours for landslips and the Olympics. About 7.7 miles of the distance was in the various ferries that are an integral part of the path.
Taking all that into account, I reckon my grand total was 666 miles walked. Lucky I’m not superstitious…
